Brief History: The Bemidji Public Library was established on February 25, 1907. We joined the Kitchigami Regional Library System in 1970. We have been in our new building since May of 1995.

Behavior Policy: The Kitchigami Regional Library System (KRLS) and the Bemidji Public Library welcome all people to use the services and facilities of the library. The Bemidji Public Library and the City of Bemidji are responsible for establishing guidelines that provide for a safe environment for library patrons, volunteers and staff. These policies should also protect the library's facilities and materials. The goal is to provide a library environment that is conducive to patrons for reading, for research, to select library materials to borrow, for writing, and for attending library programs and events.

MNsure Enrollment Sessions at the Bemidji Public Library ended with the March 31, 2014, enrollment deadline. Click here for a list of local partner organizations that will continue to provide support to individuals who have questions.

The delightful sculpture “A Little Bird” is on permenant display in front of the library near the main entrance off of 5th St. Northwest in Bemidji. The sculpture was created by artist Julie Jones of Fort Collins, Colorado. It first came to the Library as part of the Bemidji Sculpture Walk. It was then purchased with funds from the Friends of the Library, the Bemidji Garden Club and a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council. The other sculpture "Celestial Orbit" that is also along the front gardens, was created by and donated to the Library by Bemidji Sculptor Suzi Rhae Ross.
